From Sep 7 to Oct 31, 2026, HIP-3 markets on Hyperliquid traded about $8.9B on Saturdays and Sundays. Across 15 weekend days, that is about $590M a day. An average weekday in the same weeks traded about $2.9B, so a weekend day carried about a fifth of a weekday’s volume.
Trading while the exchanges are shut
HIP-3 lets builders deploy their own perpetual markets on Hyperliquid, including stocks, indices and commodities. These markets trade around the clock, also when the exchanges that list the underlying assets are closed.
Weekend prices come from the order book until the open. They can move away from where the underlying opens on Monday.
Method
- Source. Hyperliquid’s public API: the daily candles of each HIP-3 market.
- Markets. 166 HIP-3 markets: those listed and trading when the candles were read, on Nov 2, 2026.
- Days. UTC. Saturday and Sunday each run from 00:00 to 24:00 UTC.
- Volume. Notional, in dollars, estimated from the candles. It is our estimate, not an official figure.
- Rounding. Two significant figures.
What the numbers don’t say
UTC days don’t match exchange hours. The big stock exchanges close on Friday evening UTC and open on Monday afternoon UTC, so some of the closed hours fall on weekdays here.
The estimate counts the HIP-3 markets listed and trading when the candles were read, whatever their asset. A market delisted before then, or idle on that day, is not in it, so the totals may be a little low.
Volume is not open interest, and it says nothing about where prices go next.
